New Centre for Salesian Cooperators in Bootle

Friday the 19th of March

Today, the Feast of St Joseph, Jessica Wilkinson (Provincial Coordinator) signed the decree that formally establishes a new centre for Salesian Cooperators at St James's Parish in Bootle.

Earlier this year, on the Feast of St John Bosco, eight new Salesian Cooperators were enrolled at St James's and it is at their request that this centre has been established in order that they can most effectively live out their shared vocation as Cooperators in the parish and beyond. This request received the consent of both the Provincial Council of the Salesian Cooperators and Fr Provincial SDB which allowed for the Establishment Decree to be signed today.

This is great news for the Salesian Cooperators not only in Bootle but throughout our province. Please keep the Salesian mission in Bootle, and our new Cooperators Centre there, in your prayers.

The Text of the Establishment Decree is as follows:

Establishment Decree

To erect a new Centre for the Salesian Cooperators at

The Parish of St James, Bootle

In line with the norms of Article 18 of the Regulations of the Association of Salesian Cooperators, with the consensus of the Provincial Council of the Salesian Cooperators, and the written consent of Fr Gerry Briody SDB (Provincial), this decree is issued to formally establish a new centre for the Salesian Cooperators situated in the Parish of St James in Bootle, Merseyside.

Given on the Feast of St Joseph, 19 March 2021
